Keeping It Green On and Off the Course
The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a proud pioneer of sustainable golf on the PGA TOUR. In 2019 the event became the third North American golf tournament to receive the Golf Environment Organization (GEO) certification. Previously, the tournament received Gold Certification from the Council for Responsible Sport.
2020-21 Sustainability Highlights
Site Protection and Restoration
- Two host courses are Certified Cooperative Sanctuaries by Audubon International (Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course)
- 100% of the course water used for irrigation is sourced through a wastewater reclamation project within the Del Monte Forest in Pebble Beach
Resource Management (Waste, Water, and Energy)
- 89% of waste is diverted through recycling, composting and community donation
- 6,500 lbs of food and produce are donated to local food banks
- 38 tons of building materials such as carpet, laminate and wood are sorted and donated for reuse withing Monterey County
- Chip bags and granola bar wrappers are upcycled into new items through TerraCycle®
Procurement
- Hybrid vehicles are used in the player transportation fleet
- Compostable service ware is used at all concessions and hospitality venues
Access and Equity
- Free tickets are provided to children 15 and under and member of the military
Community Legacy
- Monterey Peninsula Foundation has donated millions of dollars to local charities in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties
